Xia Liu (they/them) is a queer nonbinary Chinese-American lens-based artist who utilizes photography, multimedia art, and video to explore sex, identity, and perception as it intersects with race, gender, and sexuality, drawing from their personal experiences and background. Through their lens, they illuminate the nuanced layers of identity, prompting viewers to contemplate the intricacies of authenticity and visibility. Born in 1996 in Boston, MA, they studied at New York University where they received their BFA in film and television production in 2019. Their work has been featured by Refinery29, Adolescent Content, Polyester Zine, Girlgaze, Sukeban Magazine, and Aether Magazine, among others.
